A video intelligence pilot should answer a specific operational question in the environment where the system will run. Laboratory accuracy alone does not establish operational value.
Define the event precisely
Replace broad goals such as improve safety with observable events, zones, thresholds, and response steps. The event definition becomes the basis for evaluation.
Test the scene
Lighting, weather, distance, occlusion, crowding, camera angle, compression, and movement all affect performance. Evaluation data should represent these conditions.
Measure the workflow
A useful pilot evaluates alert quality, operator review time, escalation, privacy controls, and system availability, not only model output. The deployment succeeds when the full workflow is workable.
